Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer
(Ref. THE03/273/0817)

This post relates to the general functioning, management, and administration of Systematic Theology in the Faculty of Theology.

Duties:
    Teaching:
•Â Â   High quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision;
•Â Â   High quality postgraduate supervision, including doctoral students.

    Research:
•Â Â   Developing and managing research programmes within the contexts of Systematic Theology / African theology;
•Â Â   Delivering high quality research outputs in the forms of reports, reviews, articles and monographs;
•Â Â   Participating in, and presenting at, national and international disciplinary conferences and simposia;
•Â Â   Building and developing national and international research networks and partnerships.

    Community Interaction / Social Impact:
•Â Â   Involvement in the church in its various expressions;
•Â Â   Involvement in the community in its various forms;
•Â Â   Ensuring the practical relevance of modules within the church and society in general.

Requirements:
•Â Â   A doctorate in Systematic Theology (or a related discipline);
•Â Â   An established research record supported by publication in accredited academic journals on relevant theological themes;
•Â Â   Academic literacy and the ability to function in a multilingual environment;

•Â Â   Knowledge and participation in church life in the (South-) African context;

Recommendations
•Â Â   Experience of teaching at a tertiary level;
•Â Â   Experience of postgraduate student supervision;
•Â Â   Knowledge of pertinent discourses that relate to Systematic Theology / African theology;
•Â Â   Knowledge and experience in African theology or related disciplines;
•Â Â   Proficiency in a third language (a third South African language and / or European language);
•Â Â   Computer literacy, with the ability to use various forms of information technology in teaching and research;

•Â Â   In good standing with their own denomination.
